HYDERABAD: YSR Telangana Party President YS Sharmila on Wednesday kicked off her padayatra (March) marathon aimed at ending what she called the “autocratic rule” of Telangana President Rashtra Samithi (TRS) K Chandrasekhar Rao and bring back “Rajanna Rajyam” the welfare state imagined by her father YS Rajasekhar Reddy who died in 2009.

Sharmila’s mother, YS Vijayalakshmi, left the padayatra after a massive public rally in Chevella town, Ranga Reddy district, from where her husband YS Rajasekhar Reddy started his 1,500 km “Praja Prasthanam” padayatra through Andhra Pradesh in 2003 and brought the Congress party to power in 2004 assembly elections.

Addressing the rally, YS Sharmila, sister of YSR Congress Party Chairman and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, said she was going on a padayatra marathon to end the “rule. arrogant and dictatorial ”of KCR, as the chief minister of Telangana is known.

“Today, I take the first step to announce a welfare state in Telangana and to dethrone the dynastic regime of the TRS. I will touch every village and meet every villager on my journey, ”she said.

Vowing to expose the alleged corruption of the TRS government, YS Sharmila described KCR as the worst chief minister of any state in the country and accused him of pushing the surplus revenue state into a debt-ridden state with blind borrowing.

“Hundreds of educated unemployed youth have died by suicide due to lack of employment opportunities and many more have become daily wage workers. Although official records indicate that there are 1.90 lakh of vacancies in the state, the TRS government has so far not issued any employment notices, ”she said.

Sharmila also accused the TRS government of neglecting the weaker sections. “After TRS came to power in 2014, KCR announced that it would make a Dalit as the chief prime minister of Telangana. He also pledged three acres of land to each Dalit family. But he didn’t keep even a single promise. On the contrary, atrocities against Dalits increased during the TRS regime. He did nothing for the OBCs (other backward classes) either, ”she said.

She also criticized Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), criticizing them for not accusing the TRS government of corruption. “Telangana Congress President A Revanth Reddy does not have the courage to fight the government because he has been implicated in the pay-vote scandal. The BJP is hand in hand with the TRS and has not been able to prove the cases against KCR, ”she said.

Vijayalakshmi said that only Sharmila can make the Bangaru Telangana (Golden Telangana) a reality. “My daughter has the courage and commitment to realize people’s aspirations and the dreams of the end of YSR,” she said, calling on people to bless her daughter.

Sharmila hopes to break all records in her marathon walk. YSRTP official spokesperson Tudi Devender Reddy said according to the roadmap she would undertake padayatra nearly 4,000 kilometers through Telangana state over a 14-month period covering 90 constituencies. of the Assembly. “On average, she will walk 12 to 15 km per day,” said Reddy.

The previous record in the padayatras is held by his brother Jagan Mohan Reddy. He traveled a distance of 3,648 km over a period of 341 days from November 6, 2017. The “Praja Sankalpa Yatra” ended on January 9, 2019, months before people voted in the legislative elections in Andhra. Pradesh in April 2019. His party won 151 of 175 Assembly seats and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy succeeded in replacing N Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP.

According to Sharmila’s schedule for walking, she will walk a distance of 10 km from Chevella and stop at the village of Nakkalapalli. “Every day she will start padayatra at 8:30 am and take a break at 12:30 pm. It will resume walking at 3 pm and end at 6 pm, ”the party spokesperson said.

She will organize a “Mata Muchata” (chatter) program at the chosen place for the overnight stopover where she intends to interact with the villagers to hear their problems.

The program and itinerary for his padayatra were drawn up by a team from the Indian Political Action Committee (IPAC), the political advisory group founded by political strategist Prashant Kishor.
