Warning that all giveaway schemes implemented by his government would be blocked if the YSR Congress loses power in the 2024 general election, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday urged members of his party to alert the people to this.
Delivering the closing speech of the YSRC’s two-day plenary here, the party leader alleged that ‘yellow media’ were already reporting that welfare schemes benefiting millions in the state would be stopped if his government fell.
Voting for (TDP leader) Chandrababu Naidu will be a vote against welfare schemes. People should play the role of Arjuna to defeat Chandrababu as he is unable to ride a bicycle (TDP election symbol) as he has lost his wheels,” the Chief Minister remarked.
He asked people to beware of Naidu’s ‘Dushta Chatushtayama’ (evil quartet) and three Telugu media houses.
“Chandrababu will come to you with all sorts of false promises. The evil quartet want our government’s welfare programs blocked,” Reddy alleged.
He called on party cadres to refute the opposition’s false propaganda by visiting people at their doorsteps and exposing the facts.
The YSRC chairman, who was elected for life on Saturday, also told party cadres to be battle-ready for 2024 and aim for a full sweep of all 175 state Assembly constituencies.
He said his government had, over the past three years, distributed a sum of Rs 1.62 lakh crore through various gift schemes.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the hardships he has endured over the past 13 years of his political journey and thanked the party workers and the people for supporting him throughout.
