The nation celebrates the 75th Independence Day today

ISLAMABAD: The nation is set to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the 75th Independence Day of the Fatherland today (Sunday) with a renewed commitment to work with the spirit of the Pakistan Movement to make the country a true state- formidable Islamic providence.

The day will dawn with thirty-one cannon shots in the federal capital and twenty-one cannon shots at the provincial headquarters.

Special prayers will be offered in mosques at dawn for the peace, solidarity and prosperity of the country. The main feature of the celebrations will be a national flag hoisting ceremony in Islamabad. Similar flag-raising ceremonies will also take place at provincial, divisional and district headquarters across the country.

President Dr. Arif Alvi urged the nation to stand firm and work wholeheartedly for the development, progress and prosperity of the country. “We must remain united to overcome the financial, economic and security challenges facing the country. Let us pledge to remain determined to make any sacrifice for the dignity and self-respect of our people and the greatness and glory of our beloved homeland,” the president said in a message on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence celebrated in August. 14 (today).

While celebrating the Day, he stressed that they must not forget their oppressed brothers and sisters in illegally occupied Indian Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said nothing is more dangerous for a nation than internal division, disruption and chaos because such negative forces undermine the country’s solidarity and integrity and deprive the societies of their national objective.

This was stated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his message on the occasion of Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day celebrated today (Sunday). He said Independence Day is a defining moment in our nation’s history.

Former President and MPs President PPP Asif Ali Zardari said that the supremacy of the people’s elected parliament is essential for a free, independent and dignified Pakistan. “Now is the time to make lasting decisions for the country and the nation by fully implementing the Democracy Charter.”

He said power-hungry dictators tried to twist the Constitution but failed. “Only an empowered parliament can decide the future of the country and the nation. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto solidified the unity and solidarity pact between the federation and all units with his blood. He said the 18th Amendment guaranteed a strong and stable Pakistan.

Meanwhile, PMLQ Chairman and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that today the whole nation is enthusiastically celebrating the 75th Independence Day, but we must never forget that today Pakistan is faces challenges on internal, external, ideological and geographical fronts.
