This type of sexual positivity also emphasizes rebutting sexual repression, causing women to express their desires that have been ignored or overlooked.
One of the biggest obstacles to this is the pornography industry. Since 1960s and 1970s, there was a backlash against the pornography and the subordination of the women shown there. Traditional heterosexual pornography has long focused on the male gaze.
