Assembly Member Jesse Gabriel, D-Woodland Hills, presented a check to the Alliance for Community Empowerment, representing the recent $ 500,000 credit in the state budget for the improvement of vital capital assets in the non-profit organization based in Canoga Park.

“The Alliance for Community Empowerment has done an amazing job inspiring young people to transform their lives and strengthen our community,” said Gabriel. “I am delighted to have secured $ 500,000 in the state budget to support their vital work and I am very grateful for all they do to raise individuals and families in the West San Fernando Valley. “

ACE, based in West San Fernando Valley, offers education, workforce skills and gang intervention programs for underserved students and families.

The organization was founded in 2013, when Canoga Park was identified as an underserved neighborhood with high rates of poverty, gaps in access to education, and unemployment.

“We are grateful for the unwavering commitment of Assembly Member Jesse Gabriel to uplifting our community,” said Michelle Fuentes-Miranda, Founder and President of CAOT. “This impactful financial support will allow ACE to create a more inclusive, safe and accessible center as we serve the most vulnerable in our West Valley community, as we move towards a healthy, prosperous and stable future.”

ACE operators such as:

– YouthBuild: a mentoring, counseling and college preparation effort for young people;

– Gang reduction and youth development: aims to reduce crime through counseling, case management and advocacy in court;
