In many events commemorating the bicentenary of the British abolition of the slave trade, one voice has been missing: that of rebellious slaves themselves, in particular those of St. Domingua / Haiti, authors of the ony successful slave revolt in history, who did more than Wilberforce or anyone to end the slave system.
